Tokyo, September 9, 2013 –Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Asia (SCEJA), a division of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc., responsible for business operation in Japan and Asia, introduced today at the SCEJA Press Conference 2013, the launch date and price-point for PlayStation®4 (PS4™) in Japan, along with various domestic measures aimed towards the holiday season including the launch of new PlayStation®Vita (PS Vita) Wi-Fi model (PCH-2000 series) and PlayStation®Vita TV.

Summarized as follows:

PlayStation®4 (PS4™)

The next generation computer entertainment system, PlayStation®4 (PS4™), will launch on February 22, 2014, in Japan at a recommended retail price (RRP) of 41,979 yen (including tax). Retailers handling PS4™ will begin accepting pre-orders from October 5, 2013.

19 software titles developed by SCE Worldwide Studios (SCE WWS) and software developers and publishers, will be released in Japan concurrently with the launch of the PS4™ system. In addition to these titles, more than 23 titles are currently under development, and since PS4™ has earned great support from a wide variety of game developers and publishers, including those within the independent development community, a total of more than 51 upcoming titles are expected to be released for PS4™ in Japan*1.

Furthermore, “PlayStation®4 First Limited Pack” and “PlayStation®4 First Limited Pack with PlayStation®Camera” will be released as a limited offer in Japan, concurrently with the launch of PS4™, at a RRP of 41,979 yen (including tax) and 46,179 yen (including tax) respectively. “PlayStation®4 First Limited Pack” will include a product code for downloading PS4™ exclusive title KNACK via the PlayStation®Store*2, and a warrantee with extended coverage for 12 extra months. “PlayStation®4 Limited Pack with PlayStation®Camera” will come bundled with PlayStation®Camera in addition to the contents included in “PlayStation®4 First Limited Pack”.

PlayStation®Vita (PS Vita)

As of September 10th, 2013, SCEJA will reduce the price of the Memory Card for PS Vita. In addition to the price drop, a new line-up of peripherals will be released, including the long-awaited Memory Card for PS Vita 64GB, concurrently with the launch of the new PS Vita (Please refer to the separate sheet for details on the price drop of the memory card and the list of peripherals).

Furthermore, SCEJA will release a bundle pack, including the new PlayStation®Vita (PS Vita) Wi-Fi model (PCH-2000 series) and attractive titles developed by a variety of game developers and publishers, all for a limited offer.

“Gundam Breaker Starter Pack” (NAMCO BANDAI Games Inc.) will be released on October 31st, 2013, at a RRP of 29,480 yen (including tax), “PlayStation®Vita × GOD EATER 2 Fenrir Edition” (Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.) will be released on November 14th, 2013, at a RRP of 25,960 yen (including tax), “PlayStation®Vita Otomate Special Pack” (Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.) will be released on December 19th, 2013, at a RRP of 22,050 yen (including tax). In addition, “PlayStation®Vita FINAL FANTASY X/X-2 HD Remaster RESOLUTION BOX” (Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.) will be released.

Furthermore, “PlayStation®Vita 3G/Wi-Fi Model Play! Game Pack” will be released on October 31st, 2013 at a RRP of 24,129 yen (including tax). The Game Pack will include the portable entertainment system PlayStation®Vita (PS Vita) 3G/Wi-Fi model (PCH-1000 series) in Crystal Black, Memory Card for PS Vita 32GB with instantly accessible pre-installed contents, PS Vita exclusive title EVERYBODY’S GOLF 6 PlayStation®Vita the Best, and PS Vita Protective Film which protects the system’s screen from scratches and reduces fingerprints.

The Memory Card for PS Vita 32GB will come pre-installed with numerous exciting titles, such as 3 free-to-play titles: PAWAPURO STADIUM (Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd.), Doko Demo Issyo (Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.), and Monster Radar® Plus (Sony Marketing (Japan) Inc.). Trial versions of titles such as GOD EATER 2(NAMCO BANDAI Games Inc.) and Ragnarok Odyssey Ace (GungHo Online Entertainment, Inc.) will also be pre-installed in the memory card.

PlayStation®Vita TV (PS Vita TV)

PS Vita TV, a new entertainment system of the PlayStation® family that will allow users to easily access video services, games and various contents on their TV at home, will be available first in Japan on November 14, 2013, at a recommended retail price (RRP) of 9,954 yen (including tax). “PS Vita TV Value Pack” that comes with Wireless Controller (DUALSHOCK®3) and 8 GB Memory Card for PS Vita, will also be available on the same day at 14,994 yen (including tax) .

PlayStation®3 (PS3®)

The release date of PS3® exclusive title Gran Turismo®6 (GT6™) in Japan was revealed as December 5th, 2013, and SCEJA also announced the release of “Gran Turismo®6 Limited First Edition -15th Anniversary Box-”, which includes various bonus contents celebrating the 15th anniversary of the Gran Turismo series. Furthermore, “PlayStation®3 Starter Pack Gran Turismo®6 Bundle”, will also be released on the same date as GT6™, which consists of the PS3® system and GT6™.

SCEJA will continue to deploy various measures to further expand the PlayStation business with strong support from users as well as 3rd party developers and publishers, and will vigorously enhance the world of computer entertainment system that is possible only on the PlayStation platforms.
